YSB's Tools for Life program underway

Posted: Thursday, July 3, 2014

The Youth Services Bureau of Huntington County will once again be assisting with school supplies through the “Tools for Life” school supply program. This is the 20th year for the program.

“Last year we provided 658 students with school supplies,” stated Karen Street, YSB staff member. The program is open to anyone who is in need of assistance with school supplies. Collection barrels are located at Beacon Credit Union, Teacher’s Credit Union, Walgreen’s and Community Link Federal Credit Union. Donations can also be dropped off at the Youth Services Bureau’s office during normal business hours.

Items dispersed include folders, crayons, glue, paper, pencils, pens, rulers, markers and basic school supplies. The agency does not provide gym shoes, Kleenex, or specialty items such as scientific calculators, copy paper, etc. There will be a limited number of back packs so the YSB cannot guarantee they will be able to provide them for every student.

To sign up for the program, contact the office at (260) 356-9681 or visit the office located at 1344 Maple Drive. The summer office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. We will need to know the age of the child/children, the school they will be attending and grade they are enrolled in. There is no cost for the program.
