YSB to host free training on August 9

Posted: Friday, July 15, 2016

The Youth Services Bureau of Huntington County will be hosting a free “Ask the Question … Save a Life” training on Tuesday, August 9, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. This free suicide prevention training will be held at the Youth Services Bureau office located at 1344 Maple Drive. The training will use the QPR (Question, Persuade, refer) curriculum.

“This training is geared for family members, friends, pastors, etc. who want to learn more about this critical issue facing all ages,” stated Steven Ward, QPR instructor.

Participants will learn local and state statistics, common myths and facts, warning signs, risk factors, local resources and additional information as it relates to suicide.

“This is a topic most do not want to deal with or even acknowledge. Sadly, however, suicide will likely touch the majority of families in Huntington County in some way,” shared Jan Williams, executive director. “It is important we know the facts and are able to help provide support to those who are under the belief suicide is the only answer to whatever they are dealing with.”

Space is limited. RSVP by calling the Youth Services Bureau at (260) 356-9681.
