YSB Striving to Make a Difference in community

Posted: Thursday, April 4, 2013

The Youth Services Bureau’s (YSB) “Striving to Make a Difference” community fund drive is currently underway. According to the YSB, each year thousands of people receive education, support, and encouragement through at least one of the 17 programs offered by the agency made possible by the generous contributions from the community.

The programs offered by Youth Services Bureau provide youth and families with the tools and support they need to successfully maneuver through stressful times. No family is exempt from facing difficult times and how each family reacts to these life situations is as different as the people themselves. Seeking help is not a sign of weakness but a sign of wisdom.

When asked what impact the YSB’s programs have had on their lives the following comments were just a few shared: “We were very resistant at first wondering why we had to have classes when it was our child who got into trouble. But we learned so much and think every parent needs parenting help at some point. There is no shame in needing or asking for help.” “I am making better choices now because of what I learned at YSB.” “I am not sure where my family would be without the YSB.” “I didn’t even know the YSB was here but I am glad they are.”

The Youth Services Bureau relies on the support and generosity of the community in order to continue to provide much-needed services throughout Huntington County. A tax-deductible gift such as those listed provided needed services: $50 ensures that a student will have the school supplies he/she needs; $60 would provide an infant a safe, age-appropriate child car seat along with proper installation; $75 provides five suicide prevention posters with informational cards to be displayed throughout Huntington County; $100 would provide an entire seventh grade class with suicide prevention education and $200 would provide community suicide prevention training for up to 30 adults.

Donations can be mailed to the YSB, 1344 Maple Drive, Huntington, Indiana 46750 or by accessing the Pay Pal account at www.ysbofhuntingtonco.org. Any concerns, comments or suggestions can be addressed by contacting the YSB at (260) 356-9681 or emailing adm@ysbofhuntingtonco.org.
