YSB postponing annual 5K run to August 29

Posted: Friday, June 12, 2015

The Youth Services Bureau of Huntington County is postponing the third annual “5K 4 Kids” fundraiser that was scheduled for June 13 until Saturday, August 29. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the event beginning at 9 a.m. at the Youth Services Bureau, located at 1344 Maple Drive. “Due to the overwhelming community activities scheduled that day, we felt it was best if we were to reschedule our event,” stated Becky Sands, program supervisor at YSB.

The event ends when all runners and walkers have returned to the YSB, at approximately 11 a.m. Entry fees are $15 for adults and $10 for participants ages 6 to 17. Children age five and under are free. Participants who register before June 2 will receive a free t-shirt. T-shirts will be available the day of the event at a cost of $5.

The course is slightly inclined and runs on pavement. The event will run rain or shine. Maps of the course are available by contacting the YSB office. All proceeds from the “5K 4 Kids” will go to support the programs and services offered by the Youth Services Bureau for youth and families of Huntington County. Suicide prevention activities, Tools for Life (school supply program) and the On Your Way Up are just a few of the programs offered by the agency.

This 5K event is sponsored by iAB Financial Bank, Lake City Bank, Solid Rock United Methodist Church, Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, Hammel Floor Services, Professional Janitorial Services and Parkview Huntington Hospital. Registration forms can be picked up and completed forms dropped off at the Youth Services Bureau Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Friday’s 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
