YSB celebrates volunteers at banquet

Posted: Friday, February 1, 2013

The Youth Services Bureau of Huntington County held its annual appreciation banquet on Thursday, January 24. The YSB celebrated its volunteers presenting special awards to the year’s most appreciated adult and youth volunteers.

Terra and Mike Rowley received the Adult Volunteers of the Year Award. The Rowleys have served as a host home family for more than ten years, opening their home to children in crisis.

The Youth Volunteer of the Year Award went to Kerstyn Street who assists the YSB with several programs. Street, a sixth grader at Riverview Middle School, has helped with the YSB’s M.A.D. Camp and the Tools for Life school supplies program. She helped set up and clean up for the camp and worked with kindergartners and first-graders attending the event. She has also helped distribute school supplies to more than 700 students.

The Friends of Youth and Steven L. Bailey awards will be present at a later date as the recipients were unable to attend the banquet.
