Youth Services Bureau has new Safe Place sites

The Youth Services Bureau has announced two new businesses that have become Safe Place sites in Huntington County. The sites are: Hangar 59 and Viking Express. Hangar 59 is located at 2809 Theater Avenue and is open Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Viking Express is located at 2090 N. Jefferson Street and is open Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to midnight; Saturday, 6 a.m. to midnight and Sunday, 7 a.m. to midnight.

“We are excited to have these two businesses join the team of businesses who are willing to provide young people with immediate assistance during times of crisis,” stated Stephen Ward, program coordinator.

Since 1990 the Youth Services Bureau of Huntington County has been providing youth in Huntington County with immediate assistance during times of crisis. Project Safe Place is a national program designed to provide prompt, professional support to young people in order to prevent them from being a run away, homeless or involved in other risky behaviors. Youth can access the program by contacting the crisis phone at (260) 560-7676 or stopping by one of the 47 businesses throughout Huntington County that display the large yellow and black sign.
