'Y' wraps up Battle of the Business competition

Posted: Wednesday, November 27, 2019

Annually the YMCA organizes a Battle competition among companies across Huntington County with the purpose of building relationships and impacting the community toward healthy living. The 2019 Battle of the Business competition featured ten area companies across three different divisions.

Participating companies were divided into the three divisions based on number of employees. The largest division, Division A, had employment numbers of 200 or more employees. Division B was for companies with 100 to 199 employees and Division C was for businesses under 100 employees. This year’s format had Battle events occurring over the course of several months beginning in April and continuing through October.

There were a variety of events featured to appeal to many employees and a multitude of skills and abilities. Some examples of events included were smartphone trivia, golf, bowling, sand volleyball, corn hole and tug-of-war. Also offered were the Walk for Life, and races like the Sock Soaker and Drovertown 5K, just to name a few. YMCA leadership will be meeting with 2019 Battle representatives and any interested businesses in the summer of 2020 to regroup for a bigger and better 2020 Battle.

A huge congratulations and thanks to all of the 2019 Winners and participants. Following are the team results: Division C, 1st place: Bippus State Bank; 2nd place: First Federal Savings Bank. Division B, 1st place: Oji InterTech, Inc.; 2nd place: Schneider Electric; 3rd place: Huntington University; 4th place: City of Huntington; 5th place: YMCA. Division A, 1st place: Bendix; 2nd place: Continental Structural Plastics; 3rd place: Our Sunday Visitor.
