Women, children's home to open November 11

Posted: Thursday, November 7, 2019

New Life Ministries began two and a half years ago working on the purchase of a house that would enable them to serve both women and children. New Life Ministries had a home for women, but did not include women and their children.

“The church was blessed with the opportunity to purchase a house directly adjacent to the Women’s Life House for $50. We were looking for a place where we could house women with children because of the number of ladies who had gone through our program separated from their children, and the number of ladies we had to turn away because we did not house children,” said Pastor Jimi Staton of New Life Ministries. He went on to say, “It was time to change that. We knew it would be hard work; when you buy a house for $50 you get what you pay for.”

New Life Ministries had hundreds of volunteers over the course of the past two years come and replace insulation, siding, flooring, wiring, fencing, drywall, plumbing, heating and cooling vents and more. The church installed a new water heater, toilets, showers, furnace, new air conditioning unit, washer and dryer, ovens and refrigerators. “You name it; we did it,” stated Staton.

Now after everyone’s hard work, dedication and faith in this project, the Women and Children’s branch of the Women’s Life House will open on Veterans’ Day, November 11.

Staton went on to say, “Soon the newly renovated house will be full of families on their way to their new lives.”
