"Wisdom of the Enneagram" explored at VNC

Posted: Thursday, March 16, 2017

A question posed by monks living in the Egyptian desert is as relevant today as it was in the fourth century.

“What is your greatest obstacle to your deepest prayer?”

What blocks us from living out our deepest prayer is ourselves. Identifying how we block our own spiritual progress requires consistent self-observation, appropriate questions for self-reflection and a supportive community. Victory Noll Center presents the two-day workshop “Wisdom of the Enneagram: A Spiritual Journey of Self-Discovery,” April 6 and 7, to delve into finding the answer to this question. Presenter for the program is Katherine Hill of Mercy Center in Farmington, Michigan.

This workshop will give participants time and information for grappling with and understanding the patterns of individual personality structures as crucial to spiritual growth. It will assist us in getting a clearer picture of the patterns of individual personalities that are stumbling blocks to deepening spirituality. Many have found the Enneagram Personality System to be extraordinarily insightful in revealing the inner motivations of nine distinct personality types. No type is better or worse than another, and we remain the same personality type throughout our lives. The journey is not to change the personality (it’s there for good reason and a gift of God!), but to soften it, so we can use its gifts to expand awareness, deepen compassion and enrich spiritual lives.

The workshop opens Thursday, April 6, with a session from 7 to 9 p.m. The event continues on Friday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For those staying overnight at Victory Noll Center, the cost is $125 and includes accommodations, continental breakfast and lunch. For commuters, the cost is $75 and includes continental breakfast and lunch. Registration is required by April 1. More information is also available on the Center’s website at www.victorynollcenter.org. No one is ever turned away for inability to pay. Payment plans, scholarships and Pay It Forward opportunities are available.
