Winterfeld to lead Sheets Wildlife Museum

Lauren Winterfeld was selected as the new executive director of the Sheets Wildlife Museum where she began her duties on Wednesday, April 15. Winterfeld has worked in the Huntington community for over 10 years, most notably as a reporter with The Huntington County TAB, from August 2011 to August 2014.

Most recently, she was employed at The Plain Dealer in Wabash. Winterfeld has a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in communication media and public relations.

Winterfeld said “I am excited to begin my new career at the museum, and I look forward to returning to the Huntington community. I really enjoy working with the people of Huntington,” she added, “I am looking forward to getting back to using my knowledge of marketing and public relations to help expand and grow the museum’s presence in Huntington.”

Winterfeld is a life-long resident of Huntington County, graduated from Huntington North High School. She currently resides in Huntington with her husband, Jason. They will welcome their first child in September.

The board commented, “With Winterfeld in the driver’s seat of the museum, we hope to focus more on fundraising, creating constant rotating displays within the museum, updating museum technological capabilities and inviting new and returning visitors to the museum as Winterfeld grows and expands the museum’s presence in the Huntington community and beyond.
