Walmart, YSB to provide school supplies

Posted: Friday, July 15, 2016

Youth Services Bureau (YSB) is pleased to announce that Walmart in Huntington will be a collection site for school supply donations again this year. Shoppers purchase the school items and place them in the collection bins at either entrance of Walmart. In 2015 700 students received the school supplies required to start the school year.

“We are so excited to be able to partner again with Walmart with our Tools for Life program,” stated Angie Rice, YSB.

“With the start of school being earlier this year and the damage caused when the agency was vandalized we really need the community’s support with this program,” stated Jan Williams, executive director.

All types of school items are needed, and one subject notebooks, folders (with and without prongs), loose leaf paper (wide rule), pink erasers, school boxes and highlighters are needed the most.

This year Rebekah Brunner, an eighth grader at Riverview and a member of Girl Scout Troop 20042, has chosen the YSB and the Tools for Life as her Silver Award project. This is the highest award given to cadet girl scouts. Rebekah is the daughter of Sarah and Dave Brunner of Huntington.
