Walgreens to accept unused, expired meds

Posted: Thursday, April 18, 2013

Unused or expired medication will be collected for safe disposal by Walgreens, 1804 N. Jefferson Street in Huntington; on Friday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents can also drop off medication at the Warren Fire Station on April 26, during the same hours.

Walgreen officials believe the event will take old medications out of circulation. The drug disposal day is sponsored by the Huntington County Prescription Abuse Task Force which is chaired by coroner Phil Zahm.

A second disposal date, also sponsored by the task force, will be held later. Robin Baker is the pharmacy manager at Walgreens in Huntington.
