Volunteers needed for IBSA Goalball, Judo

Posted: Friday, June 7, 2019

The 2019 IBSA Goalball and Judo International Qualifiers will be held in Fort Wayne, Indiana at Turnstone. This event serves as a qualifier for the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan for competing Para Judo and Goalball athletes. Over 400 athletes and 40 countries will be represented in what will be Fort Wayne’s largest international sport event to date.

A link to sign up to volunteer can be found here. Individuals can sign up for positions to assist with event operations from registration, dining hall assistants, crowd control, classification, weigh-ins, anti-doping, judging, ambassadors and more. There is just about something for everyone and 2,466 shifts for positions need filled yet. This is a great volunteer experience for anyone wanting to interact with Paralympic athletes and experience a Paralympic qualifier.

I highly encourage anyone interested in volunteering to do some homework and read more about the Paralympic Sport Classification guidelines for Goalball and Judo (disability classification/eligibility) as well as information on each sport discipline.
