Visitor's Bureau to offer social media class

Posted: Friday, March 2, 2012

The Huntington County Visitor & Convention Bureau and Reusser Design have teamed up to help grow local tourism by conducting an educational program on social media strategy. “Your Business will be Hashtagged: The Why’s and How’s of Social Media” will be held on Thursday, March 22 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Reusser Design, located at 314 North Main Street, Suite #2, Roanoke.

Facebook has 800 million users. Twitter has about 400 million. Countless millions make up other social media service user bases. All these conversations are happening online. Where does your business fit in? Presenter Andy Welflie, Social Media and Content Strategist for Reusser Design, will take attendees through an introduction to social media covering several well-used social platforms, lead a discussion among a group of peers about social media benefits, pitfalls, and the importance of online collaboration.

Session One will focus on the why of social media: Why do I need it? Why do I care? Attendees will tour the social landscape, check out some real-time conversations, examine some social media case studies, and figure out how this could be tailored to their business.

During Session Two, the group will discuss strategy. Topics include examining common problems faced by organizations and ways to overcome those problems as well as a review of tools that supplement online marketing and save time. Finally the participants will dig into setting goals and how to determine if those goals are being met.

This program is open to Huntington County businesses who want to attract tourism dollars. Cost is $25 per person for the entire day or $15 per person to attend either the morning or afternoon session. Lunch will be provided to all day attendees. To register, please contact the Huntington County Visitor & Convention Bureau at (260) 359-8687 or make your reservation online at www.reusserdesign.com/workshop.
