Visitor's Bureau sponsors Window Contest

Posted: Friday, May 17, 2013

The Huntington County Visitor and Convention Bureau will sponsor the 12th Annual Heritage Days Window Display Contest. The theme for this year’s window display contest follows the Heritage Days theme, “Steamin’ Into Huntington.”

There are two divisions, Categories A and B. Stores that sell merchandise that could be used for decorating will be considered Category A. This includes all home decorating and gift shops. Category B includes all businesses that do not have ready access to decorating materials. Businesses without a window can use windows that are on “loan” for the contest.

Windows will be judged for the following: overall appearance and attractiveness, use of this year’s Heritage Days theme, use of color, creativity and signage. Those entering the contest will receive a free Heritage Days sign for their window which reads Huntington Heritage Days, June 19-23. Windows should be decorated by employees, not professionals, and will need to remain decorated throughout Heritage Days.

Entry forms are available at the Visitor Bureau, 407 N. Jefferson Street, and should be faxed or returned by June 6. The entry forms may also be found on the Chamber website at Windows should be ready by June 10 as judging will occur between June 10 and 12. Any business whose windows are not ready in time for judging will be disqualified.

Winners will have their names engraved on the traveling trophy, which may be displayed until next year’s Heritage Days. Local newspapers will print an announcement and picture of the contest winners. The winners in both categories will also receive a $50 Huntington County Chamber of Commerce Gift Check courtesy of PACE Chevrolet and Renz Floor Care.
