Victory Noll Center offers fall programs

Victory Noll Center, 1900 W. Park Drive, is offering several programs and a Fall Festival Open House for the fall season. The mission of the center is to foster spiritual growth, enhance personal development and promote social justice in an ecumenical and multicultural environment.

Praying With Companions on the Journey begins Friday, September 9, 9 a.m. to Noon, and continues on October 14, November 11, December 9, January 6, 2012, February 17, March 16, April 13 and May 18. A suggested bibliography will be provided to those who register and the cost is $200 for the 9-month series. Those who register by today, August 26, will receive a discount and pay only $180.

A Women Veterans Wellness Retreat will take place September 9 and 10 and again on January 13 and 14. In conjunction with Lutheran Military Veterans and Families Ministry and the Huntington County Veterans Service Office, Victory Noll Center will host this retreat for female military veterans. Arrival is on Friday between 4 and 5 p.m. with social time to follow. Saturday’s retreat session will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Women have the option of staying Saturday night with a Sunday departure. The cost is a $10 registration fee with meals provided. Scholarships are available and early registration is encouraged as the retreats are limited to the first 15 women registered.

Wil Hernandez, PhD, a retreat leader, counselor and spiritual director, will present Henri Nouwen: On the Polarity Between the True and False Self on Saturday, September 17. The program begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 4 p.m. The cost is $35 and includes a continental breakfast. Registration by September 9 is appreciated.

A Fall Festival Open House will take place at Victory Noll Center on Sunday, October 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. The community is invited to spend time on the grounds, enjoying cider, doughnuts, popcorn, a scavenger hunt, hayride and other fun activities for the whole family.

Unemployment resource seminars will be held October 7, January 25, 2012 and May 16. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by the seminar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. An Unemployment Networking Group meets Thursday Mornings, 9 to 11 a.m., to enjoy coffee and network with others.

The Matthew 25 Project will meet Thursdays beginning September 1 from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Using the scripture Matthew 25:40, “I assure you, as often as you did t it for one of my least, you did it for me,” participants can “live the Gospel” by making hats and blankets for those in need. The goal for this year’s project is 125-150 blankets. Donated yarn or funds toward the project can be brought to Victory Noll Center.

Saying Yes! To Life will begin with a program called Opening Yourself to Receive Retreat, Saturday, October 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $40 and more spiritual retreats and workshops will follow on October 17, October 24, October 31, November 7 and November 12. The discounted price for all six sessions is $150.

Eat, Pray, Laugh: Girls’ Weekend Away! will take place October 21 and 22 from 4 p.m. on Friday to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The cost is $75 per person which includes accommodations, meals and Sue Wilhelm’s leadership on a spiritual retreat with other women. The retreat is limited to the first 12 registrants.

Jan Parker will facilitate Wellness Practices for Self-Care. Two different sessions of four classes each will begin September 19 or November 14 and registration is required by September 12. The cost is $35 for four classes in each session.
