Victory Noll Center announces programs

Victory Noll Center, 1900 W. Park Drive, has announced its schedule of winter and spring programs. A variety of opportunities to experience the Lenten season and several other directed retreats are offered.

Women Veterans’ Wellness Retreats will be offered January 13 and 14 and April 13 and 14. The retreats are for female military members and begin on Friday of the weekend selected between 4 and 5 p.m. Saturday’s retreat sessions run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Women have the option of staying Saturday night with a Sunday departure. There is a $10 registration fee and meals are provided. Scholarships are available and each retreat is limited to the first 15 women.

Delicious appetizers, energizing activities, conversations and sessions designed to nurture couples can be enjoyed at a Couples’ Retreat to be held Friday, February 17, 6:30 to 9 p.m. The presenters of the retreat are John and Janice Kulp Long, pastors in Church of the Brethren congregations. The cost is $40 per couple and registration is required by Friday, February 10.

A Wellness Day will be facilitated by Jan Parker and Cheri Krueckeberg on Saturday, February 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $30 and includes healthy snacks. Registration is required by Saturday, February 18.

During Lent individuals or groups are welcome to walk the outdoor Stations of the Cross on the Victory Noll property from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Participants are asked to sign in at the Victory Noll Administration Building and booklets will be available for those who wish to use them. There is no charge.

Lenten Soup and Bread Book Studies will take place Tuesdays during Lent. The dates include February 28, March 6, March 13, March 20, March 27 and April 3 from Noon to 1 p.m. each day. Sue Wilhelm will lead participants in Mary Jo Leddy’s book, “The Other Face of God.” Free will donations to cover the cost of lunch and an RSVP by the Friday before each session will be appreciated.

A guided Lenten retreat experience will be held Wednesday, March 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Presenters Sister Maureen Mangen and Father Keith Hosey have more than 70 years of experience co-directing retreats. The day of prayer, preaching, looking into the Word and lunch will cost $35. Registration is required by Wednesday, March 7.

The components of the Way of the Desert directed retreat include silence, solitude and prayer. It will take place Sunday, March 25 beginning at 5 p.m. through Wednesday, March 28 at 3:30 p.m. Retreat leaders are Nancy Brousseau, OP, D.Min. and Sue Wilhelm, D.Min. The single occupancy cost is $290 with meals included, and must be paid in full seven days before the beginning of the retreat. Early registration is encouraged as the retreat is limited to the first ten who register.

The Matthew 25 Project continues on Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Hats and blankets for those in need are made by participants in these sessions and distributed through local agencies. The public is welcome and yarn for hats, and monetary donations toward the materials for the blankets are also appreciated.
