VFW honors volunteers, announces rankings

VFW Post 2689, 220 W. Park Drive, held their volunteer service dinner at the post on Sunday, March 25. During the dinner, six people were recognized for their volunteer service to the local post and the community. Those honored were Bruce Stanton, past Veterans Service Officer; Mike Worrel and Steve Schnitz, both regular members of the local post. Also honored were Evelyn Godfroy, Larry Leyman and Pam Leyman, auxiliary members of the post.

Rodney Funk, past State Commander of the VFW and current president of the Veterans Service Council, announced to those in attendance that the local VFW Post 2689 was recognized from the state. VFW Post 2689 was ranked third in state for membership size and fourth best post in the state for their community service.
