Veterans Memorial receives a U.S. Navy anchor

The City of Huntington recently placed a U.S. Navy tribute anchor at the Veterans Memorial at Memorial Park. The anchor was placed on Wednesday, September 20.

According to Mayor Fetters, “He is happy to add the anchor to the display including the tank and the plane.” Fetters went on to “Thank the Huntington area veterans for their service and sacrifice to the country, and to the Legion Riders from American Legion Post 7 for escorting the Navy anchor to its new home.”

Shown in the photo at left is the U.S. Navy tribute anchor as it is being placed and secured on its foundation at the Veterans Memorial at Memorial Park on Wednesday, September 20. The photo on the right shows the Legion Riders from American Legion Post 7 that escorted the anchor to the park. Riders from left are Rick Haskett, Barry Wehr, Joe Patton, John Thomas and Tom Mortimer.
