Veterans Memorial continues moving forward

Posted: Friday, October 16, 2015

The Veterans Memorial at Memorial Park continues to move forward this week. The newest addition, the T-33A Shooting Star fighter plane, was placed on its pedestals at the new Veterans Memorial. The T-33A was developed after World War II and saw service during the Korean Conflict.

Construction workers continue to work on the Veterans Memorial this week by placing the plane on its pedestals and working on the concrete work. The plane will not be used for playground equipment or for children to climb on.

The Veterans Memorial along with the Purple Heart Monument will have an opening ceremony immediately following the Veterans Days Parade on Saturday, November 7. The ceremony is expected to take place around 10:30 a.m.

Shown in the photo is the new plane as it is perched upon the pedestals.

The Chamber congratulates the City of Huntington for giving the citizens of Huntington County their own park, honoring veterans and for making all of us proud to call Huntington home!
