United Way chair to raise funds through golfing

Posted: Friday, June 13, 2014

Pete Schownir, the 2014 United Way campaign chair, plans to kick off the 2014 campaign by playing 81 holes of golf – every hole on every Huntington County golf course on Sunday, June 23.

UTEC is the title sponsor of the “Pete’s Tour FORE United Way,” and additional sponsors are also being sought. Individual pledges are also being accepted. For information about pledges and sponsorships, visit or call the United Way office at (260) 356-6160.

Other golfers are also invited to raise funds for the United Way by playing a Huntington County golf course on June 23. Golfers should mention “Puttin’ Pete,” and a donation will be made to the United Way. Schownir will begin his day at 6:30 a.m. at Dogwood Glen Golf Course, move to Etna Acres Golf Course about 8:15 a.m. and to Clear Creek Golf Course about 11:30 a.m.

After a break for lunch and a chiropractic treatment courtesy of Dyer Health & Wellness, Schownir will move on to the LaFontaine Golf Club at 2:30 p.m. and Norwood Golf Course about 5:30 p.m.
