Posted: Friday, February 23, 2018

Turkey Trot host and lead sponsors presented a check for $29,950 to Pathfinder Kids Kampus interim administrator and Early Head Start director, Elizabeth Hire, on February 19. The 2017 proceeds raised another record for the Thanksgiving Day event. The event had 1,112 individuals participate in the 5k and one-mile fun walk.

“The Turkey Trot has become not only the largest fundraiser for Pathfinder Kids Kampus, but it is also a highly anticipated community event which brings friends and families together on Thanksgiving morning. We’re grateful for the continued support of our sponsors and the participants along with the volunteers who make the Turkey Trot possible,” Hire said. “This fun family event raises much needed funds so that children of our community can experience the benefits of early learning and quality child care.”

Hire, with the help of John Niederman, president of Pathfinder Services, along with several Pathfinder Kids Kampus youth received the proceeds check from host sponsor, Britt Sather of McDonald’s, lead sponsor Dr. Matt Pflieger and Dr. Janelle Maxwell Pflieger of Cardinal Family Medicine and lead sponsor, Becky Scheiber of PNC Bank.

McDonald’s, as host sponsor, donated the long-sleeve technical shirts, breakfast to participants, cash prizes to winners, and opened the Huntington facility and provided staffing for the event. Cardinal Family Medicine and PNC Bank were the lead sponsors and additional sponsors included Granite Ridge Builders, Parkview Huntington Hospital, David Culp & Co., Fort Wayne Metals, PHD, Indiana Physical Therapy, and 3 Rivers Running Company. The Huntington County Emergency Management led the event.

Each participant also received a reusable cinch bag sponsored by Rayco Home Services, Ideal Suburban Homes - Brenda Williams, Novae Corporation, Heritage Pointe of Huntington, Parkview Huntington Family YMCA, Pace Chevrolet, Huntington University, Office Concepts, Huntington City-Township Public Library and Jeremy K. Nix, Attorney at Law.
