Trinity UM to bring musical events in December

Posted: Wednesday, November 21, 2018

December brings a number of musical events to Trinity United Methodist Church, in Huntington.

“Celestial Notions: Piano Solo and Choral Music,” by local composer Drew Evans will be on Saturday, December 1, at 7 p.m.

Evans will conduct a New Age choral and piano solo concert of pieces he composed for his upcoming album, “Celestial Notions.” As the term “New Age” suggests, much of the music is of a contemplative nature, featuring rich, lush harmonies.

Evensong concert, Community Choirs of Huntington County Winter Concert: “A Gift of Peace” will be Saturday, December 8, at 7 p.m.

The Community Choirs of Huntington County are sharing their “Gift of Peace” through songs this holiday season. Listen to their Children’s Choirs, high school Copper Sound and the adults of Joyful Songsters.

Evensong concert, “Christmas at Trinity – The Song Heard ’Round the World: A Cantata for Christmas” will be Sunday, December 16, at 4 p.m. This show will be a celebration of the diversity and unity of Christmas around the world, featuring the Trinity Chancel Choir and Handbell Ensemble.

YMCA School of Music Student Recital will be Monday, December 17, at 6 p.m.

Students of the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA School of Music will present their annual winter recital. While young students may lack a certain degree of technical expertise, they usually make up for it with their enthusiasm.

All concerts will take place at Trinity United Methodist Church and are free and open to the public. The church is located at 530 Guilford Street. For more information, contact Greg Otis, director of worship arts ministry, at or by calling (260) 356-0961.
