Townsend Institute holds second Symposium

We are excited to announce the second Symposium for the Townsend Institute for Leadership and Counseling will take place on Friday, September 18 on the campus of Huntington University in the Merillat Centre for the Arts.  It will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the counseling training segments at 8:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.  The leadership training segments will be at 10:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.

The opening symposium had 400 people in attendance to receive top-tier leadership and counseling training by Dr. Townsend and several of his colleagues and fellow authors. This training event is free, but you will need to register at https://september2015-townsend-symposium.eventbrite.com.

On September 18, Dr. Townsend will be joined by these Institute Fellows in person or via a specially created video for this symposium. Ray Hilbert, CEO and co-founder of Truth at Work, an association which helps Christian business leaders build strong organizations, popular author, including The Janitor (christianroundtablegroups.com). In person, and tentative scheduled 1:15 p.m.

Richard Halderman, CEO of Teays River Investments, a food and agribusiness company with over 1,200 employees (teaysinvestments.com). In person, tentative, 10:30 a.m.

Daniel Amen, M.D., psychiatrist, brain disorder specialist, founder of the Amen Clinics, bestselling author, Change Your Brain, Change Your Mind (amenclinics.com). Via video, 8:45 a.m.

John Baker, co-founder of Celebrate Recovery with Rick Warren, on pastoral staff at Saddleback Church, popular author, including Life’s Healing Choices (celebraterecovery.com). Via video, 3:15 p.m.

Jim Daly, president and CEO of Focus on the Family, and popular author, including the book Finding Home. Via video, 10:30 a.m.

Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) are available through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) for two presentations (one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon). The cost is $25 per hour ($50.00 for 2 hours total). Check the schedule for more specific information about CEU’s. You must preregister and pay for CEU’s prior to the event. You must check-in upon arrival and you may pick up the certification following the event.

Many businesses use this as a training day for their leaders. Or they will come from 10:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. for the focus on leadership.
