Thank you to all involved in Christmas in the City

Posted: Friday, November 30, 2018

Thank you to all who were involved in making Christmas in the City 2018 a well-attended success. We appreciate the time and resources which were committed to create an enjoyable day for children in downtown Huntington, an exciting tree lighting ceremony including Santa Claus on a fire truck and a lovely Courthouse rotunda featuring visits and photos with Santa.

The Chamber enjoyed working on the project with Mayor Brooks Fetters and the City of Huntington, city employees and downtown businesses and their employees. Special thanks to Steve Yoder, Andrew Rensberger, the street department and fire department from the city. We appreciate Jesse Miscovich for engineering the lighting of the Christmas tree, and the Children’s Choir of Huntington County for caroling at Rotary Centennial Park.

Thank you 5th Parlour for the face painting for children, to Mike and Ann Richard at Giggabuggy for ornament painting, to the Huntington City Township Public Library for story time and treats in the Meal Ministry, to Bob Burnsworth for the use of the Meal Ministry, to Lori VanOver and her staff for camel and pony rides and the petting zoo.

Special thanks to those who donated funds to make Christmas in the City possible. Those include Bailey-Love Mortuary, Beacon Credit Union, Bowen Center, Brick House Grill, Bob Burnsworth - Coldwell Banker, City of  Huntington, Continental Structural Plastics, Duke Energy, E&B Paving, First Federal Savings Bank, Giggabuggy, Huntington County Chamber of Commerce, Huntington County Community Foundation (Kudo Grants), JJ’s, Lake City Bank, Our Sunday Visitor, Pathfinder Services, Purviance House, Marshall and Liz Sanders, Shuttleworth, Smith Furniture, The Party Shop and Randal J. Warner CPA, LLC.

Thank you to Paula Kimmel for publicity, and to Scott Trauner at The TAB for his help to spread the word to the community about the event. We especially appreciate being included in all the special Christmas information sections. Thanks to The Desk and Copy Stop for printing the flyers.

We appreciate Larry Buzzard, Tom Wall and Rob Miller, County Commissioners, for the use of the Courthouse rotunda, and Rod Jackson and Duane Goings for providing security during the Santa event. Thanks to Rose Wall and Marla Stambazze for decorating the area, to Wall Legal Services, Justin Wall and Tiffany Henderson, for helping with event organization and providing hot chocolate and coffee and to the Brick House Grill for cookies. Thanks to Pat Teusch for the music, and to Rick, Jana and Drew Henly for creating a video of the event.

Thanks to Kevin and Carrie Shipbaugh, owners of Frederick’s Photography, and staff, for taking and providing pictures of children with Santa. Thank you to Barbra Sprinkle for assisting with the event and photo sessions, to the Party Shop, Lynette Dowden, and Bob Burnsworth, Coldwell Banker, for providing elves and candy canes. Thank you to Samantha Garcia for assisting at the Courthouse.

And we send a big round of applause to all those from Huntington who brought their children and/or grandchildren to enjoy the festivities. Together as a community we can create memories that our children will always remember.
