Posted: Friday, March 11, 2011

The Huntington County Tea Party will hold a community meeting on Monday, March 28 at the Dan Quayle Center and Museum from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The guest speaker will be Hilda Gutwein.

Gutwein grew up in Nazi Germany during World War II, was forcibly taken from her family, and pressed into service in the Hitler Youth Corps. She will be speaking about her experiences and will also be discussing current events that are paralleling with what happened in that era.

Future community meeting dates are Monday, May 23 and Monday, June 27. Chard Reid, the Libertarian candidate for Congress in this past election, is tentatively scheduled as the speaker for the May 23rd meeting.

April 30 will be the date of the Huntington County Tea Party Meet and Greet for candidates running for office. This will be held at Crestview Middle School from 7 to 9 p.m. and the public is welcome. This event will be an opportunity for the community to meet the candidates running for local office just before the primary election on Tuesday, May 3.

The Huntington County Tea Party Organizing Committee meets the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Mondays of each month at Jim Wilson's Realty Office on Market Street downtown Huntington. The meetings are from 7 to 9 p.m. and the public is welcome to attend and are invited to become a part of the organizing committee. There is no cost for any of the Tea Party events.
