T'ai Chi Chih classes to be held at VNC

Posted: Friday, February 14, 2014

Victory Noll Center is hosting "T'ai Chi Chih: Joy Thru Movement" beginning Tuesday, March 4. Classes are held Tuesdays from 10 to 11:15 a.m. The course runs from March 4 to April 29, with no class on April 1.

Developed by Justin Stone in 1974, T’ai Chi Chih is a series of 19 slow, gentle movements and one pose dedicated to activate, circulate and balance the vital, universal energy that flows within each person. T’ai Chi Chih is often thought of as a moving meditation because of the calming effect on the mind and emotions, and the release of tension throughout the body.  It is not a martial art. There is no awkward bending or stretching. The movements are accessible to people of all ages and physical abilities. It can even be performed while seated.

The leader for the classes is Jan Parker, who is an accredited T’ai Chi Chih teacher.  She also teaches wellness practices for churches, retreat centers, schools and service and healthcare organizations. Registration is requested by Tuesday, February 25. The cost of the class is $64. Make checks payable to Jan Parker.
