Posted: Friday, April 28, 2017

A series of monthly cruise-ins known as Lime City Cruise Nights will be held the first Wednesday of each month in downtown Huntington. The first cruise-in is scheduled for May 3 and the events will continue until October 4, from 5 to 9 p.m. on each night.

All vehicles are welcome at the open show including cars, trucks and motorcycles. The cruise-ins are being coordinated by Tom Tallman, and several downtown restaurants and other businesses will be open during the events.

Each month a specific make or model of vehicle will be highlighted. The Mustang Coral spotlighting Ford Mustangs will be featured May 3. On June 7 the Chevrolet Corvette, “The True American Sports Car,” will be highlighted; July 5, the Chrysler MoPar including Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, Imperial and Dodge trucks;  August 2, pre-1950s cars; September 6, “The British Invasion,” featuring Austin Healey, Triumph, MGs, Minis, etc. and October 4, “True American Muscle Cars,” 1971 or older.

Owners should register vehicles at the corner of Market and Jefferson Streets on each cruise-in evening. Vehicles will be parked on Jefferson Street between Park Drive and Franklin Street. Goodie bags will be available for everyone, and dash plaques will be awarded to the first 50 vehicles registered. At each show two people’s choice awards will be given and the top 10 vehicles will be recognized. Door prizes will be awarded.

Corporate sponsors are MSM Transport, Smith Furniture, Bailey-Love Mortuary, AutoZone, Johnson Junction, Tri-County HVAC, Speedway Motors, Nick’s Kitchen, Pace Chevrolet and Mettler Insurance. Donations will be accepted and will benefit “Shop with a Cop.”
