Sugar Shot to return to Cottage Event Center

The Cottage Event Center in Roanoke will again celebrate October as Country Music Month with a concert on Friday, October 24 featuring Country Band Sugar Shot. The event is a fund raiser for the Roanoke Kiwanis Club.

Proclaiming themselves as “Hyper-active Country with a Shot of Rock,” Sugar Shot features Jen Fisher on guitar, right, and vocals and Gwendra Turney on fiddle, left, and vocals. The group has opened for a number of national touring acts and was featured at the Indianapolis RibFest. They have also performed in the Embassy Theater’s popular “Down the Line” Concerts, Fort Wayne Air Show and at the recent Indiana State Republican Convention. The other members of the Sugar Shot band are Matt Roussel, guitar and vocals, Tommy Myers, bass and vocals and Clarence Boyd, drums and vocals.

Sugar Shot performances include something for every taste from traditional Country to Country Rock. Their song list features everything from These Boots are Made for Walkin’, The Devil Went Down to Georgia, Ring of Fire, and Rocky Top to Here for the Party by Gretchen Wilson, Pontoon by Little Big Town, and Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Tickets are available from Roanoke Kiwanis Club members and at Good Grains Gluten Free Bakery in Roanoke. Doors open for the event at 6:30 p.m. with the show beginning at 7:30 p.m. The concert is sponsored by First Farmers Bank & Trust, ReMAX Realtor Marti McFarren and Dennis Grain.

The Cottage Event Center is located at 9524 US 24 N (at Locust) in Roanoke. On December 5, the facility will feature popular duo The J Taylors in a Holiday concert. A Comedy Mystery Dinner Theatre programs featuring Bower North Productions will be presented on New Year’s Eve. The venue is owned and operated by Hamilton Hospitality Group LLC.
