Star Picnic on May 19, Bike Rodeo on May 20

Posted: Friday, April 28, 2017

The Huntington Library will hold its second off-site program at Hier’s Park, 547 S. Briant Street, this May. Join the library for a Star Picnic from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, May 19 to view the Johnson Comet in the Hier’s Park Pavilion.

The Fort Wayne Astronomical Society will be in attendance, assisting with sun-viewing until sundown and then star-viewing techniques afterward as everyone anticipates the comet as it passes overhead. The picnic is a potluck, so those attending should bring snacks for their family or for all in attendance (bringing food is optional). All ages are welcome.

Also last year’s successful bike rodeo returns to the Huntington Library this May. Taking place from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20 in the upper parking lot of the Huntington Library, this year’s Bike Rodeo brings Huntington Area Recreational Transportation Association (HARTA) and their bicycle obstacle course, along with other local organizations and bike-related activities. The Bike Rodeo is for all ages, so bring the entire family.

The Huntington Library is located at 255 W. Park Drive.
