Springtime in the Village on May 21

Roanoke’s Springtime in the Village to be held on Saturday, May 21 will feature the 100th anniversary of the Roanoke Volunteer Fire Department. The firefighters’ birthday party will be held at Roanoke Park and feature carnival rides and a hog roast from 1 to 6 p.m.

Roanoke Brethren Church is sponsoring the carnival rides and will also provide free popcorn and activities for children. The event for the fire department is free and “birthday” donations for the fire department will be accepted.

Town-wide garage sales will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 21 also part of Springtime in the Village. More than 70 garage sales have historically been part of event. Main Street in downtown Roanoke will be closed to feature crafters and vendors. Freshly brewed coffee will be sold from the Bailey’s Coffee Cart.

Those interested in holding a garage sale or having a booth in the downtown area should contact the Roanoke Library. The deadline to register a garage sale is Thursday, May 12. All proceeds will benefit the Roanoke Library and the Roanoke Volunteer Fire Department.

Roanoke Brethren Church will accept donations of unsold items that are in good condition from 1 to 5 p.m. The items will be used by the Brethren Church’s Crossbars Ministries to sell in thrift shops, which fund social assistance programs in northern Indiana.
