Smith Furniture in the “spotlight” this week

Smith Furniture has the Chamber “spotlight” focused on them this week. Smith Furniture is located at 312 N. Jefferson Street, downtown Huntington.

Smith Furniture is now in its fourth generation. The story began with Everett and Lilly Smith. The couple came to Huntington and opened a grocery store. He later opened a used furniture store on Warren Street in Huntington in 1943.

The second generation of ownership was Everett and Lilly’s son Robert. Robert and his wife, Lucille operated the store for several years.

Robert and Lucille had five children who have all played a role in the continuance of the business. Sons Lyle, Ed and Todd have all been involved in the furniture business. Robert is now retired and Todd is a partner at Crain Ford in Warren. Ed and his wife Nancy continue part-time at Smith Furniture.

Ed and Nancy’s son Jordan and his wife Robyn are now managing the store and positioning it for the future.
