Sleep disorders subject of free program

Parkview Huntington Hospital will present a free program titled “Sleep Disorders: Get a Better Night’s Sleep,” featuring pulmonologist Srinivasan Devanathan, MD, of Parkview Sleep Medicine, a member of Parkview Physicians’ Group.

The program is scheduled for Thursday, December 8, at 6:30 p.m., in the lower-level classrooms at Parkview Huntington Hospital, 2001 Stults Road, Huntington.

Dr. Devanathan will explain how quality sleep impacts general health and how untreated sleep problems increase the risk of high blood pressure and stroke.

Participants will learn what measures can be taken to get a better night’s rest. He will discuss treatments for:

* Insomnia
* Sleep apnea
* Restless Leg Syndrome
* Narcolepsy

Parkview Huntington Hospital recently opened a two-bed, state-of-the-art Sleep Disorders Center, which is fully accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The center is located in Suite 110 of the John B. Kay Medical Office Building on the hospital campus. A physician’s referral is required for the sleep studies.
