The Indiana Dream Center is pleased to announce the graduation of Daniel Sears from their 12-month in-patient program. Sears will graduate on Sunday, November 10, at 10 a.m. at the Awakening Community Church, Huntington Campus, and 5 p.m. at the Awakening Community Church, Fort Wayne Campus.

Sears has struggled since he was 13 years old. At the age of 17, Daniel was admitted to Parkview Behavior Health and was in a coma for six days because of a heroin overdose. There was a 95% chance he was brain dead. Knowing that he needed professional help to get better, Daniel worried about going through detox due to the severity of his addiction and the length of time for the heroin to fully leave his body.

When asked what he was most looking forward to after graduation, his reply, “being a father.”

Daniel said he would absolutely recommend the Indiana Dream Center program to anyone that is struggling and ready to get help. He continued by saying, this was the “best year of my life” and being able to serve the community and give back.

Being fully committed and in a relationship with God now, he admitted that there was a time he “tittered on the belief or hating him (God).” His belief in God is what helped him lose the “victim mentality” of his addiction. He is learning to look at life’s challenges as a learning opportunity and not a negative. He asks himself, “What is God trying to tell me?”

Daniel is now employed as a maintenance team member at a local aluminum company. In his spare time, he enjoys music, playing the guitar and riding motorcycles. In the near future, he looks forward to giving back and telling his story.
