Schnitz earns 50-year membership from VFW

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, Huntington, presented Glen “Woody” Schnitz with his 50-year membership pin and coin on Wednesday, August 5. Schnitz joined the VFW Post 2689 in 1964.

Other awards presented were jackets to the Volunteers of the Year for the 2018-2019 term. Recipients were Steve Winterrowd and Post 2689 Auxiliary members Carol Spencer and Mike Clift. In lieu of a jacket, John Block was presented a lifetime membership.

Rick Stell was presented a certificate and an Excellence crystal award from the VFW as membership chairman for obtaining a membership percentage of 131.46 percent. Stell was first place chairman in the state of Indiana and was third place chairman at national level.

The Teacher of the Year crystal awards went to Emily Smith from Andrews Elementary School and Denise Zahm from Huntington Catholic Middle School.
