SBA contest has $70,000 in prize money

Initiated in 2015, the InnovateHER contest is a cross-cutting prize competition designed to unearth innovative products and services that help impact and empower the lives of women and families.

InnovateHER provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs throughout the United States to showcase products and services that have a measureable impact on the lives of women and families (30%), have the potential for commercialization (40%) and fill a need in the marketplace (30%).

Fort Wayne SCORE will be the sponsoring organization for the “local” contest event. SCORE is partnering with: Brightpoint, the Community Development Corporation of Fort Wayne, the Women’s Economic Opportunity Center, the Indiana Small Business Development Center and the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center.

The local contest is open to start ups and ongoing businesses in Northeast Indiana that meet the three criteria as outlined by the SBA and addressed above. Winners from all local contests will be submitted to the National SBA office for review and from that group, ten will be selected to travel to Washington D.C. on July 27, 2017, to present their business ideas in person. The top entrant will receive $40,000; second place, $20,000; third place, $10,000.
