Santa Claus visited with the Huntington Metro Kiwanis on Monday, December 15. Santa made his appearance during the Huntington Metro Kiwanis Annual Christmas party hosted for young children.

The evening festivities began with Metro Kiwanis members greeting and visiting with the children, and dinner was shared. After the meal the children were visited by Teresa Rody of the DNR and a Red Tail Hawk that had been injured. Teresa Rody spoke about the Red Tail Hawk being a predator bird and how it is unlawful to keep a bird of this type even if it is injured. She described the type of food they eat. She concluded with some other facts of interest about the Red Tail Hawk and answered questions.

Lisa Leist led the singing of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and Santa Claus is coming to town with the children and Metro Kiwanis members. Children received gifts from Santa and each child sat on his lap to have their picture taken. The children were also provided with fruit baskets that were given by the Chief LaFontaine Saddle Club and a Christmas blanket that had their name monogrammed on it by Huntington Metro Kiwanis member Rita Dinius.

Huntington Metro members have also been out ringing the bells for the Salvation Army to help raise funds toward the Christmas goal to help local families.
