Safety Council to hold meeting, offer opportunities

The Huntington County Safety Council will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, February 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Habecker Dining Commons located on the Huntington University Campus. The Safety Council is also offering donation opportunities to support its scholarship program.

Bill Musick, director of Loss Control Services for Hylant, will be the featured speaker. Musick will discuss how the overlap between worksite wellness initiatives, safety programs and workers compensation can translate into cost savings for the employer when appropriate health and well-being interventions are introduced to the employee population. He will also talk about OSHA a compliance strategies and Worker’s Compensation trends.

The mission of the Huntington County Safety Council is to provide safety and human resources education and a networking system to further enhance worker safety within Huntington County. It conducts luncheon meetings on the second Wednesday each month and a variety of safety related topics are presented. The Safety Council also supports other various safety programs throughout the county and two $1,000 scholarships were awarded last year to high school students. The council plans two award two similar scholarships in 2013.
