Safety Council looking for participants

Posted: Friday, February 16, 2018

The Huntington County Safety Council would like to invite your business to be represented at a monthly luncheon meeting by offering the opportunity to become a safety council participant. The mission of the council is to provide safety and human resources education and a networking system to further enhance worker safety within Huntington County.

The Huntington County Safety Council conducts luncheon meetings on the second Wednesday of the month from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meetings are held at Our Sunday Visitor and lunch is provided by Nick’s Country Café. There is no fee to become a member but the cost of the lunch is $10 per person. A variety of safety related topics are presented. The Huntington County Safety Council also supports other various safety programs throughout the county and two $1,000 scholarships were awarded last year to high school students. The scholarships are sponsored by businesses through donations each year.

The Council is operated by a group of board members who help choose and schedule the safety topics to be presented each month. In addition to the board members, the safety council is comprised of participants from many local businesses within Huntington County. The board members and participants typically represent safety and human resources departments within their businesses.

Safety topics that have been presented on in the past include drug testing and screening laws, human trafficking, drug abuse, the role of Emergency Management, and upcoming presentations will include fire safety, weather safety, creating a safety team for your business and first aid and EMS role in Huntington County.

Registrations are sent via email about three weeks in advance with the topic and presenter for the next scheduled meeting. For more information or to request to receive the registrations please contact the Safety Council president, Jeff White at (260) 355-3656.
