Posted: Friday, January 22, 2021

Lifelong Huntington resident and outgoing treasurer of the Huntington County Historical Society board of directors, Barbara Rupley, is the new director of the Huntington County Historical Museum. She replaces Mark Stouder, who retired at the end of 2020. Rupley took over as director on January 1. Rupley will oversee the day-to-day responsibilities at the museum.

Rupley is a graduate of Huntington North High School and earned an associate degree in secretarial science from Huntington University.

“I’m excited about being the new director of the museum, and hope to introduce new ways of presenting our exhibitions to the public, such as virtual tours of the museum,” she said. “I’ve been researching what we can do to improve communicating Huntington County history.”

Rupley worked for Indiana Farm Bureau for 13 years. She also worked at Johnson’s Junction for six years. She and her husband, Kevin, are the parents of six children and have 13 grandchildren.
