Roush Range site of two upcoming shoots

Posted: Monday, May 13, 2013

Two shoots will be held during June at the Roush Fish and Wildlife Area Shooting Range. The first will be a fun shoot on Sunday, June 9, from 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 23 will bring a shoot for women also from 12 to 4 p.m.

The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) and Whitetails Unlimited (WTU) are teaming up for the Seventh Annual Fun Shoot for everyone. Lunch will be provided and those in attendance will challenge their skills with a shotgun, rifle and pistol shoot.

First time shooters, seasoned shooters, all are welcome and should bring their ammunition and firearms if possible. The organizers of the shoot will provide both if participants do not have their own.

Drawings and prizes will be a part of the afternoon. Pre-registration is required by contacting the Roush FWA at (260) 468-2165.

Women in the Outdoors (WITO) Third Annual Fun Shoot, sponsored by the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Roush

Fish and Wildlife Area, will feature target, trap and skeet shooting. It will also take place at the Roush Fish and Wildlife Area Shooting Range.

The activity is open to all women, first time and experienced shooters. The cost is $10, but is free to NWTF/WITO members. Qualified shooters will be on hand to assist and guns and ammunition will be supplied. Participants may also bring their own firearm and ammunition. Hearing and eye protection will be available.

Refreshments and drawings will also be a part of the afternoon. Contact Barb Nevius at (260) 359-3747 or  e-mail Bnevius@onlyinternet.net or call Denise Reust at RFWA (260) 468-2165.
