Roanoke to host classic car show July 19

Posted: Friday, June 20, 2014

Roanoke will be the sight of a classic car show Saturday, July 19. Rolling into Roanoke will feature vehicles, food vendors, music, shopping, wine-by-the-glass sold by Two EE’s Winery and all-day prizes and games.

The Roanoke Beautification Foundation (RBF) invites car clubs and individuals to participate. The entry fee is $20 by July 1 and includes a dash plaque, t-shirt and vehicle ID tag. Registrations will be accepted on the day of the show for $25. Twenty-five non-traditional, specialty awards will be given, including one for people’s choice.

Located along Main and First Streets and in Roanoke Park, the show will feature exotic sports cars, vintage classics, muscle cars and high performance and custom street rods. Cars from the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum are slated to come to the show and the National Auto and Truck Museum also plans to send several vehicles. There will also be a special section for vintage motorcycles and tractors. In addition, there will be supervised parking for participants staying for dinner.

The money raised will help fund current RBF projects, such as directional signage, additional historic lampposts, sidewalk repairs and parks department support. In addition, 20 percent of the net profit from Rolling into Roanoke will be donated to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum’s The Road Ahead capital campaign.
