Roanoke American Legion to help veterans

Posted: Saturday, September 10, 2011

Submitted by the Roanoke American Legion Post 160

Roanoke American Legion Post 160, along with numerous Huntington County veterans’ organizations, would like to express a sincere thank you to everyone who supported the Honor Flight Benefit held on September 25, 2010.  Because of your generous donations, we presented a check for $14,000 to Honor Flight Northeast Indiana. On November 10, 2010, we were able to send 80 veterans to see the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C.

We will once again be hosting a benefit concert at Roanoke American Legion Post 160 on September 24, 2011.  There will be three bands including Acoustic Rush, Kill the Rabbit and Only Son performing throughout the afternoon and evening.  This is a family outing for children to attend.  Gates will open at 3 p.m. and the concerts will run from 4 to 9:30 p.m.  Food and beverages will also be available for purchase the day of the event.

Time is of the essence.  Statistics show more than 1,000 WWII veterans are dying every day.  Please help us say “Thank You” to those who serve to keep your country free. If you are unable to attend and wish to make a donation please send to…
