Richison named Huntington County Magistrate

The Huntington County Courts are pleased to announce that Amy C. Richison has been appointed as the new full-time Magistrate for Huntington County Superior Court and Huntington County Circuit Court, effective July 1, 2021.

Richison graduated from Indiana University Maurer School of Law – Bloomington in 1996, and started her career as a Deputy Prosecutor in Johnson County, Indiana. She served as the Chief Deputy Prosecutor of Huntington County from 1997 until she was elected to the position of Prosecuting Attorney for Huntington County. Richison has served as the elected Prosecuting Attorney for Huntington County since January 1, 2007.

Richison has focused her career in the Prosecutor’s office on advocating for children who have been victims of abuse, and has received numerous awards. She has received the Hope Award for child advocacy from the Northeast Indiana YWCA in 2010, was named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans by the United States Junior Chamber in 2011, and received the Ronald E. Mitchell award from the Huntington County Child Protection Team in 2012.

HEA 1064 was signed into law on April 26, 2021, which provides that the Huntington County Circuit Court and Huntington County Superior Court will jointly appoint a magistrate to serve the Huntington County Courts, effective July 1, 2021. Huntington County Superior Court Judge Jennifer E. Newton and Huntington County Circuit Court Judge Davin G. Smith welcome Richison to the newly created position. Her experience, dedication and knowledge will be a great benefit to Huntington County.
