Ribbon cutting held at Casey’s General Store

Posted: Friday, March 2, 2018

Casey’s General Store, 1374 Flaxmill Road, officially opened its doors on Friday, February 16, and had their grand opening and ribbon cutting on Friday, February 23. The grand opening was organized by the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce.

Casey’s General Store is based in Ankeny, Iowa, and has been in operation since 1968, and growing, with more than 2,000 locations in 15 states. Another store is planned to open next month in Michigan as its 16th state of operation.

Dawn Eppard will serve as the manager of the local Casey’s store. Eppard formerly worked at Lincoln Financial in Fort Wayne prior to accepting the store manager’s position at Casey’s. She is excited about her new job.

According to Michelle Cottingham, Casey’s General Store area supervisor, “Casey’s store is well-known for two things: its doughnuts and its pizza. We are fifth in the nation for pizza,” says Cottingham, adding that Casey’s ranking falls among giant pizza chains. We make our own pizza dough and also make our own fresh doughnuts, hand-cut fresh vegetables and we bake all of the bread that is used in our subs.”

Casey’s is also known for its involvement in the community. When placing a store in a community, we like to become a part of the community by giving back,” said Cottingham.

Casey’s currently has 24 employees, but the number will probably go higher as we begin looking at staying open 24 hours per day, says Cottingham. Casey’s is open from 5 a.m. to midnight, seven days per week. To contact the store, call (260) 358-4227.
