REMC cancels 2020 annual member meeting

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Heartland REMC 2020 annual member meeting has been cancelled.

The meeting, originally scheduled for Saturday, June 27, draws an average of 4,000 people. To keep the members and employees safe and to comply with social distancing guidelines during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Heartland REMC board of directors decided to cancel the in-person meeting.

In accordance with the Heartland REMC by-laws, an election for directors will still take place. To meet this requirement, Heartland REMC has set up voting in the offices. Members can come in, register and cast their ballot in the election. Each member that registers will receive a credit on their July billing. Voting will be available, in the lobbies, during business hours to June 25. The results of the election will be available on www.heartlandremc.com on June 29.

Each year at the annual meeting, 20 full-time college students are awarded $500 scholarships. This is a highly anticipated part of REMC’s annual meeting. This year, the company will be doing a Facebook Live event (date and time to be determined) to draw the 20 winners.

Entry into the scholarship drawing can be done on the REMC website at www.heartlandremc.com/youth-programs. The deadline to enter is June 1.
