Relay for Life scheduled for June 10

This year’s Huntington County Relay for Life will be held Saturday, June 10 at Kriegbaum Field. Opening ceremonies will begin at 12 noon and activities will continue until 12 midnight.

The Relay for Life theme for 2017 is “May All Your Holidays Be Purple.”  According to Mark and Vickie Kiefer, 2017 Event Leads, a fun day is planned celebrating a different holiday every hour of Relay.  Relay will close with a festival of lights the final hour, from 11 p.m. to midnight.

Relay is a family friendly event that is open to the public.  Family activities are planned all day long and night including:

12 to 1 p.m.     Opening Ceremonies and Survivor Lap/Caregiver Lap
1 to 2 p.m.       Happy New Year – Celebrate another year cancer free!
2 to 3 p.m.       4th of July – Wear Red, White & Blue – bring a flag
3 to 4 p.m.       Easter –Easter egg hunt for the children
4 to 5 p.m.       Valentine’s Day – Dude looks like a lady contest
5 to 6 p.m.       Cinco de Mayo – Taco eating contest
6 to 7 p.m.       St. Patrick’s Day – wear green
7 to 8 p.m.       Labor Day
8 to 9 p.m.       Halloween – Come dressed in costume for a treat
9 to 10 p.m.     Thanksgiving – Can food drive for Love INC
10 to 11 p.m.   Memorial Day – Luminaria Ceremony
11 to 12 p.m.   Christmas – Festival of lights – Closing Ceremony
