Registration opens for 10th annual Turkey Trot

Pathfinder Kids Kampus will host the 10th Annual Turkey Trot 5K run/walk and one-mile Turkey Trail on Thanksgiving morning, November 27. The event, sponsored by host sponsor, McDonald’s of Huntington, lead sponsor, PNC Bank, as well as Parkview Huntington Hospital, David Culp & Co., Mettler Agency, Inc., 3 Rivers Running Company and Indiana Physical Therapy will start at 8 a.m. at McDonald’s in Huntington.

Online registration is available at www.kidskampus.org. Everyone who registers will receive a long sleeve technical shirt and will be registered to win door prizes. The overall male and female winners will receive cash prizes of $100. Winners of each age division, with the exception of the 17 and under age division, will receive a cash prize of $50. Please note winners of the overall prize, cannot win the divisional prize. The age divisions are as follows: best boys’ and girls’, ages 17 and under; men’s and women’s, 18 to 34; men’s and women’s, 35-54 and men’s and women’s, ages 55 and up.

The event will be chip timed again by e-Runner Timing and Results. There will be an optional packet pick up for those pre-registered for the 2014 Turkey Trot from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26 at Kids Kampus, 435 Campus Street. This will allow for runners/walkers to pick up shirts, race numbers and chips prior to race day, if they choose.

Last year 940 people participated in the Turkey Trot and raised more than $21,000 in support of the children and families served by Kids Kampus. The 2014 event begins with registration from 7 to 7:45 a.m. Thanksgiving morning, followed by the 5K at 8 a.m. and one-mile Turkey Trail at 8:30 a.m. Ronald McDonald will again start the races. Post race breakfast items will be furnished by McDonald’s.

The cost for the race is $20 for those who pre-register online or via mail by November 25, and $25 for those who register on November 26 and the day of the race. Shirts are available for the first 1,000 registrants. Early registration is encouraged for choice of size. An Outta Town Turkey Trot is also available for those who will not be in the area on Thanksgiving but still wish to support the event and get a race shirt.
