Rails-to-Trails' opening day, ribbon cutting

Posted: Thursday, March 29, 2018

Outdoor enthusiasts and trail lovers nationwide will kick off the spring trail season as part of Rails-to-Trails Conservancy’s (RTC) sixth annual Opening Day for Trails.

Opening Day, RTS’s annual celebration of trails nationwide serves as the unofficial launch of the spring trail season and is designed as a way to celebrate and draw attention to the benefits that trails bring to their communities. “Trails give us so much and they bring communities together, creating outdoor space for everyone to be active and connecting people to the places they want to go,” said Brandi Horton, RTC’s vice president of communications.

The City of Huntington is marking the event with a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of phase two and three of the Erie Rail Trail. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 7 at the Gragg Street trail head at 9 a.m. and the public is invited.
