Purdue Extension to hold Butterfly Workshops

Posted: Friday, August 11, 2017

Huntington County Purdue Extension Office will be providing two workshops on August 17 at 12 noon and 6 p.m. The workshops will be held at the Larry & Joyce Keiffer Family Living Building at the Huntington County Fairgrounds, 631 E. Taylor Street.

This Butterfly Workshop will feature butterfly life cycles, butterfly facts and myths, and information on how to attract butterflies. Butterfly eggs, caterpillars in varying stages and butterflies will be available for viewing. Participants will tour a milkweed patch, weather permitting, to search for Monarch butterfly eggs. Depending on availability, participants will take home butterfly eggs or caterpillars to raise and release.

The program is appropriate for all ages. If you are interested in learning more about these endangered Monarchs and other butterflies, please call (260) 358-4826, or email to register for the program. Space is limited.

For more information about the program or any Purdue Extension programs, call or stop by the office. We are located at 1340 S. Jefferson Street.
